So since I am a senior at Skyline High, I decided that I want to slack off this year and take easy classes. Some of these classes are Lifetime Sports Bowling (we go bowling every other day), Financial Literacy (the teacher isn't all of the way there mentally), and at my mother's request of taking another foreign language besides American Sign Language, I am taking Spanish. It is by far my most eventful class this year. In a class of thirty three, I am the only senior. The other thirty two are all sophomores.... Or at least act like sophomores and I can't tell if they are or not. This class always keeps me on my toes, teaching me lifelong lessons.
I sit next to a Chinese boy who is the only person I talk to. He speaks English, Mandarin, French, and is now learning Spanish. He says that when he is learning Spanish, he translates it to Mandarin and then to English. So technically, he is learning how to speak Spanish in Mandarin.
The first week of school, we were doing "get to know you" games by saying 'mi llamo es...' and then saying your name. One person got up and said 'Mi llamo es Alex.'. This particular person is one of which you cannot tell if they are male or female. He/she has a mustache, but has long hair and certain other features which make you believe it is female. I still have no idea what Alex is.
The second week of school there was a drug bust where the Assistant Principal and the school's Police Officer had to interrupt our class and pull the kid into the hall to interrogate him. He still hasn't come back to class.
The most recent event is that we were giving oral presentations on what activities we like to do. A certain boy was acting up and was being obnoxious. Senor Porter (my teacher) told him to be quiet multiple times, and finally at the end of the presentations yelled at him and told him to go to the office! The small sophomore boy couldn't handle this punishment and sobbed while he was walking out of the room. I can't wait until the semester ends when I can drop this class. I wonder if Bryant is having any similar experiences learning Spanish in the MTC...
